Job Description and Requirements for:

Band Trainer and Conductor
This description should be read in conjunction with the Band Purpose Statement

Responsible to: the Crystal Palace Band Committee and it’s B Band Sub Committee

Objective: to further develop the B Band and its members in musicianship and playing abilities by pursuing its training and development role. To create a band capable of success in contests and of high quality in performance whilst remaining open to new and returning players of mixed ability


Requirements:

To lead the band in its musical activities

Selection of appropriate music for rehearsals, competitions and performances

Taking weekly rehearsals (currently 19.00 to 20.00hrs on Wednesdays at Crystal Palace). Conducting and coaching the Band

Conducting at concerts and competitions.


Attributes:

Experienced brass instrument player and/or conductor

Knowledge of and enthusiasm for brass band music and tradition

Musical leadership skills including ability to enthuse players

Sympathetic and enthusiastic about encouraging younger players

Ability to work with band members and sensitive to spread of abilities

Enthusiasm to develop the band further
